PostworkShop digital painting software wins our TopTenREVIEWS Silver Award because it makes the most of its features by incorporating them into an interface that encourages efficient workflow. It also offers plenty of extra tools for adding professional touches to projects, such as the ability to add pencil effects to your digital photographs and paint lines to your images. This application is open and expandable enough to make the possibilities endless when you are creating your art piece. It also lets you layer different styles to create a unique image.
PostworkShop doesn't overload this application with features that users may or may not need. It might not have as many features as some of its competitors, but PostworkShop proves that the quality-over-quantity approach pays off in the end. You might not have access as many filters and effects that are present in other digital painting software; however, there are enough to choose from that will keep your projects from getting stale.
A number of tools in this software are really novel and will become your favorites in no time. One of our favorites was the pencil effects you can add to your photos or drawings. You can also choose the length of your pencil, which will help you have the control you need to create the perfect lines to make your image stand out. Additionally, you can add painting techniques such as paint lines to your images, which will allow you to create a painted effect on your photos. The layering effect that this application offers will help you to blend different artistic styles to give your image a whole new look.
We counted over 60 brushes in the Brush Selector dialog box in PostworkShop. You have the option to import brushes from outside of the application as well. The flexibility in this area is a definite plus, and individuals in the artistic community should take notice of PostworkShop because of it. A lot of digital painting software products make you adapt to their style. But PostworkShop opens the doors and puts creativity in the hands of the artist.
The quality of the brushes in PostworkShop is top notch. But if you’re not a fan of the brushes you find with this digital painting software, you can always import your own brushes. That way you can customize your own brush collection and make it your own. The brushes in this application are outstanding and the ability to import brushes provides users with an increased level of flexibility in terms of their design capabilities. The brushes created crisp and clean lines where needed. When we switched to larger brushes, the lines came out just as they would using a paintbrush.
If you want to bring photos or other images into PostworkShop, you have the option to do so as long as it’s in one of the following file formats: JPEG, PNG, BMP, TGA, GIF, TIF, PSD, ABR or SVG. It’s hard to imagine that you would have an object that’s in any other file format than the ones we just listed. Having nine different file formats to choose from in this area also gives users the flexibility to import almost any object under the sun. You might prefer to only use objects that are in the major file formats, but you have to account for the objects in your path that might be in other file formats. Luckily, the good people behind PostworkShop did that for you to ensure that you won’t have any limitations when it comes to importing objects into this digital painting software.
In PostworkShop, the procedure for exporting your files isn't going to be as clear-cut as it is in some other applications. One would think that PostworkShop’s export options would be under Save Project or Save Project As, but those options only allow you to save your project as a PostworkShop Project or PRJ file. Instead, you have to go down to Save Image. The dialog box that pops up will give you the option to save your file in the following file formats: JPEG, PNG, BMP, TGA, GIF, TIF or PSD. The process of exporting your project would be a lot easier if they put their file-type options where users could more easily find them.
PostworkShop is very easy to use for digital painting software that is filled with many powerful features. The interface looks like what we have seen in other programs that are nowhere near as robust. In PostworkShop, you are greeted by an interface that’s evenly spaced to make for more efficient workflow. To top it off, the features themselves are pretty easy to use. We didn’t find a feature that was any more difficult to use than we would find in simpler applications out there.
When we looked at the help and support options for PostworkShop, we noticed two exclusions: telephone support and a user manual. We liked how easy it is to download updates. The frequently asked questions section, tutorials and user forum also provided a lot of information about this feature-rich digital painting software. Users have the ability to contact the manufacturer through email, which is a handy option. However, they don't list a telephone number, nor do they provide live chat support – both nice options for receiving immediate support when you need it
PostworkShop digital painting software offers many important features for any artist to use. This application has anything you would ever to need to create the most beautiful masterpieces imaginable. If you choose this application, we think you'll be impressed with the freedom it gives you to create polished, professional-looking projects you're proud of.
